Advanced Technologies

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross marks the debuts of a number of technological features in the MMC range. Mitsubishi’s new Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) uses a 7-inch touch-screen display, located prominently on the dashboard where the driver can view infotainment data quickly, safely and with minimal eye movement.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross’ Smartphone Link Display Audio supports Apple CarPlay1, the smarter, safer way to use an iPhone1 in the car. The driver can use Siri or the SDA’s touch screen to get directions optimised for traffic conditions, make and receive calls, access text messages and listen to music, all in a way that allows them to stay focused on the road. SDA also supports the Android AutoTM2 which provides voice controlled operation of Google MapsTM2, Google PlayTM2 music and other apps.

The SDA system is combined with a new Touchpad Controller, which allows for a more intuitive operation of the infotainment system than the usual rotating knobs. For instance, audio volume can be adjusted using two fingers to swipe the controller screen either up or down. The Touchpad Controller can operate audio functions such as the radio and iPod, as well as the Apple CarPlay. Placing the Touchpad Controller in the centre console allows the driver to operate the SDA easily and without having to shift seating position.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross also benefits from a Head-Up Display (HUD) which displays the following vehicle information directly but unobtrusively in the driver’s field of view:

  • Speed
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM)
  • Adjustable Speed Limitation (ASL)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Cruise Control
  • Shift indicator (w/ paddle shifting)
  • Seat belt reminder
  • Door ajar indicator

The virtual full colour crystal display is calibrated to minimise the distance between its focal point and the driver’s field of view, reducing unnecessary eye movement and allowing the driver to read the information more quickly and safely.

The fold-out HUD unit is located on top of the instrument binnacle and opens and closes automatically or manually. The display angle can be adjusted for individual driving positions, while brightness can also be adjusted to match the surrounding light level (both automatically and manually). Available on Eclipse Cross 3 model and above.
